Lesley, The stories are heartbreaking. I don't understand the people who can't see it as an issue and are fighting health care reform. I guess it is like you said in one of your previous posts -they have health care so they just don't care about anyone else. BTW- I found it interesting that Lane, one of the story guys in the link, is from my hometown!
Rae, I think some people just don't understand. My father-in-law is one of them. He is flabbergasted that anyone would pay $1000 or more a month for health insurance. "Why don't you find a cheaper policy?" Argh. He just doesn't get it.
Remember the movie John Q? (Was that the right name?) Anyway, his son couldn't have the operation to save his life. It was soooo close to home! Hubby's nephew (corporate guy) saw it and said, "That couldn't possibly happen in America!" Hope some eyes open soon!
I'm a writer who has very little to say, a pianist who refuses to play if anyone else is home, and a Christian who is often irreverent, intentionally or otherwise. I believe laughter is the best medicine, especially if you have crappy health insurance.
